Garden Update 4

Busy..Busy..Busy. Our Peas are really growing and starting to cling to everything it touches. yikes I used pencils as a temporary set to keep them growing straight. We planted some more plants Mint, Lavender, a Sweet Salad Mix and Cucumbers. YUM! I can't wait in til everything is starts to grow. Today was a gardening day, in the front Rodney and I fixed some of the plants in the front re~lining them and also put some more mulch in the bed. Also put some weed & feed out in the front lawn. I had no idea its so much Work trying to keep grass growing. I'm having so much fun gardening. In the pictures above are of our puppy's Wyatt has the red bandanna and Tyson w/out one aren't they cute. They are both enjoying the backyard and the grass that is finally growing.

Garden/Backyard Progress 3

This weekend was a working weekend for us. Sunday we did actually mowed the lawn and hung-out in the backyard a little bit. I attempted to fly a kit but I did not go so well. Our grass has really improved a lot, still got patches in the yard but its slowly progressing. I think it might need to be seeded at least one more time. As for the front of our yard. We need to do some work and will post pictures later on.
Garden its really growing. I don't understand why not everything is grow and its taking a really long time to grow or maybe I'm in patient but somethings are growing.

Earth Day

I know, I haven't really contribute to helping the planet a better place by using less energy and using less paper cups. But this pass month has been a expectation and also our new house has played a big role of us being more GREEN. here's how we contribute:

• Cleaning up after our dogs ( did you know that dog poop is bad for the environment)
• Using reusable water bottle
• Maintain a garden
• Turning off the lights when not in the rooms
• reusing plastic items such as milk jugs,yogurt cups, plastic bags
• energy saving light bulbs

theses things are just a couples of things, we try to do to make the world a better place.

Garden Update # 2

Backyard Progress

We have been watering the backyard everyday and I can see lots of process. We have a lot of sprouted new grass coming up Check it Out...

Backyard April 18,2010



Garden

This is what is planted in our garden
Cilantro, Green Beans, Dill, Roman Lettuce, Tomato, Carrots, Jalapeno, Peas, Okra,Watermelon, and Strawberry's
Above the plants has sprouted but not all has sprouted yet in the garden its just some plants started growing more than others. I'm thinking of planting more lettuce since its been a while and it has not sprouted yet. I think everything is going well, we have some good progress with the backyard. I've been shopping around for lawn chairs and tables so be able to go outside with our doggy's and enjoy our outdoor living space. The progress has really grown considering the weather and I'm really excited once its all complete.

Today was great and wish everyday can be like today. I had a wonderful time with mom. We did some window shopping and also some grocery shopping. I figured out that I'm really a fan of Garden Ridge more than anyother home decor store. Hopefully later on this week I can get some updated pictures of our garden and the backyard. Today it actually rained a couple of drops nothing to brag about but it saves us from watering so much. In our backyard we (Rodney and I ) spread some compost on the ground and vermiculite to maybe help boost the growing process. I can only keep my fingers crossed. Theres not too much of a change with growing process other than I can't come to understand why our lettce isnt growing yet..hopefully We'll be able to plant some more tommrrow.

Finally someone has moved in the house beside us, I don't know if we should be excited or not. I have been compulating giving them a welcome to the Neighorhood candy bag or something to be nice. Thinking about we just recently moved into our home..we practically didnt getting any cookies or brownies "welcome anything" well now to think about it we got a popicle and Rodney got a budlight beer. LOL

800,000 Americans do not..

According to a Yahoo article I read that many as 800,000 Americans have "cut the cord" meaning they do not pay for cable TV losing their $130 dollar cable bill a month and saving of $1,500 yearly. We are one of the households that have "cut the cord" and I'm proud to say. We are a member of Netflix and watch movies online instanly on our TV as well watching TV antenna. I have really notice a diffence, now we don't feel obligate to watch TV because we are paying for it at a steep price. We get more done not watching as much tv such walking our dogs,cooking home cooked meals, more engergtic and focus more on yard work and gardening. I've also noticed a big diffence in our pocket book insead of paying $130 we putting that money aside for a vaction and things we want. I know must people would say they would never get rid of their cable. I really don't understand why. We are much more happier.

Testing

Today, I've got two test I have to compete my math test and a government test. I'm really nervous about both of them. It means a great deal if i don't pass both of them and even costing me for my math. I don't mind retaking math because I feel as If I'm understanding it but not all the way. I think a second time I will get it. That what happened from my last math class, I had to fail and try even harder the second time. Giving the fact some of the material we have been covering I haven't even seen before in my life. Oh well I know I can pass both test! I can do it. I only have a couple of more classes left until I'm done with my basics. So I think I'm going to push on and attend summer school.

Gardening

Its only been a couple of weeks since we started gardening but I really do like it. After seeking advice for our backyard hopefully it will start growing even more. Its so mudded back there but I keep on reminding myself that the backyard needs to be water everyday. "Our garden is growing with our love" The strawberrys has a bloom, I'm excited. The peas are bigger and the okra is growing sprouts and the poetoes have also sproted and I think the watermelon has also sprouted. Hopefully today we will be able to work on the front yard and replace one of the bushes I think its dead or even do some shopping homedecor store.

Main Street Arts Festival

Arts festival was so packed even more people from last year the weather was just perfect. The crowds were packed in small spaces. It was really hard to stop and enjoy all the art work when you have some stranger breathing down your neck. This year I really was not all that impressed their was long lines for everything bathroom, to buy coupons for food and drink. Yes its a four day event but needless to say I might not be comming back on a Saturday. Don't get me wrong I had a great time but it was too people in too small of a space. Before the Arts Festival it was really a lazy day I don't know if I was tried from Friday but I kept on wanting to fall back asleep. I was waiting on my mom to call to go the Arts Festival with Us but of course she was a no-show. This was happening all week which was no suprise to be I shouldn't expect anymore really. I hate that the weekend is comming to the end, I've really had a good time.

Winstar ~ Friday

I had a fab time at Winstar, I love just filling up on soda and coffee for free while I'm there. I found a game I really like and actually won money on. Well a couple of bucks nothing really to brag about. I enjoyed a girls night out, I forget how far Winstar is from where we live but I like the drive. I'm starting to see why people like going to Winstar. When you walk into Winstar its like steping into another world the beeping, flashing lights and people having a great time. Steping in Winstar you automatically forget about your troubles and set a side whatever going on in your life and Have a good time. Overall it was a good trip, It was a good start to a good weekend off.

Our Backyard Progess

We started working with the backyard in first week in March. At first we raked the whole backyard and than we fertilizer and seeded with Kentucky Blue Grass.
After a few weeks nothing was happening so than Rodney and I seeking advice we learned that Kentucky Blue grass will not survive the Texas hot summers. Later on that we once again seeded our backyard again but this time with Bermuda grass and this our progress now









I'm a beginner but call me crazy but its growing in patches..Time to seek advice again!

Update on Garden
I'm really starting to see progress in our garden, the peas are growing,okra,potatoes, and a couple of other things. Its still very small to see it in a picture but there it is..

and Our Strawberry's looks like starting to bud a little bit

I'm so very excited to see everything starting to grow. I am hoping that the grass will grow and the garden so it look just perfect for our Housewarming Party.

Gardening

Since owning a home I've always wanted a garden. When I was growing up we had a small garden and even at my aunts house she had a garden. Since I'm a homeowner I want my own garden. We decided to pick up Mel's square foot garden technique. We built 2 square foot gardens. Ive enjoyed the garden so far but their hasn't been much progress besides the peas that are growing and the strawberry's are looking better since we brought them. If anyone inspired and or wanting to make their own garden i recommend reading square foot gardening ideas.I'm really hoping that we can reap the rewards soon, but til than I'll be keep my fingers crossed and even doing the Indian dance.
I'm so glad we don't have much longer til the semester ends! I'm ready for it end in a way. I'm still undecided if I want to go to summer classes. I'm just sick of all the homework and obligations it takes away from me. I really just want to enjoy the summer off since we have a community pool which we have never had the option I can spend as much time as I can swimming.But since the semester is coming to the end I've gotta try to stay focus for the next couple of weeks and be a good girl and do my work. lol
BTW I'm really enjoying my new car, I'm really adjusting really..I drove by the mechanic shop today and thought about my old car. I'm glad that I was able to donate it instead going to the trash compactor! I'm counting down the days til the weekend..Main Street Arts fest and the End of Era Texas Stadium implosion..Lots of fun this weekend coming up and oh yeah did I mention the studying part lol.

Yesterday was a Monday

I had to work my usually 6:30AM-3PM which was okay. It was work nothing really more to say. After work I was surprised that Rodney was coming home early since he was sick. I was glad to see him early :)It was somewhat a lazy day. He was sick and I have felt exhausted. I don't know its been from school or work even my new schedule change. A lot has changed in this past month, its been really big change for the both of us. It's been so much about saving and paying bills and doing this and that. I'm just ready for the weekend! I just want to have FUN!

Easter Sunday was awesome! A beauiful sunday the weather was just perfect expect for all the clouds in the sky. Rodney cooked Easter dinner, he cooked honey ham, sweet poatoes and greens.YUM! I got a chance to cook dessert and I made homemade chocolate cake. I'm still working on being a better baker but it takes time to be Betty Crocker. LOL Even though I had to work today it was a great day, I really enjoyed staying home and watching movies. I'm sad that our easter decor has to come down tonight but it was fun while it lasted and i'll be ready to decorate for the next holiday. Tyson and Wyatt really enjoyed today they ate just about everything we had on our plate they are so spoiled!
I hope this upcomming week is going to go by fast! I took off for the weekend so we can enjoy one of our traditions to go to the Main Street Arts Festival. I love this time of year! Maybe this time i'll buy a t-shirt. I'm really looking forward to this weekend to get out and have fun.

Rodney and I meet 5years ago at the mall every since we have fallen in each other arms. We recently married of almost 2years now and time goes by so fast! We are enjoying the newlywed bliss. We just stared a new chapter in our lives, we are offically homeowners.

I realized that I must enjoy life and be thankful for the people around us because time go by fast,people move on and bumps in the road is just god way of testing our faith and things are really not stressing about.
